Looking for a travel CPAP machine but can’t decide which one? We’re here to help! While you’re on the road or in the air, the last thing you want to do is take a chance on your health. Leading companies ResMed and Philips Respironics have both released remarkable travel CPAP machines making the already tough choice, tougher.
Find out which one is best for you!
AirMini by ResMed
The smallest travel CPAP machine on the market, the AirMini Auto CPAP makes for a great travel companion that fits in the palm of your hand. The machine itself weighs 300g. The AirMini is only compatible with the ResMed N20 and F20 series of masks while the HumidX waterless humidification system requires the N20 or P10 for AirMini series of masks. Unfortunately, the AirMini is not compatible with other mask from all other mask interfaces. The AirMini does not provide heated humidification and the decibels range between 30-38dBA.
What is the HumidX waterless humidification?
A waterless humidification system means that patients can enjoy all the benefits of a humidifier without having to fill up a water tank. While using one of the HumidX approved mask such as the P10 for AirMini, moisture is collected on your exhale and is filtered back through the incoming stream. The HumidX technology does not require power or water and uses Heat and Moisture Exchange (HME) which turns each breath out to be warmer and more natural to breath in.
The ResMed AirMini is bluetooth compatible and features the AirMini App which allows users to access their sleep score and their 30 days sleep therapy history/progress as well as control the machine in the palm of your hand.
DreamStation Go by Philips
The newest addition to the already widely known Dream family created by Philips Respironics is the DreamStation Go AutoPap travel machines. The DreamStation Go features 1/3 of the components than other travel machines and is the quietest one on the market. The decibels range between 30-39dBA. Weighing in at 840g makes the DreamStation Go heavier than our compared ResMed AirMini. The DreamStation Go is compatible with other manufacturer masks (with the adapter), making it a less restrictive choice compared to the AirMini.
The DreamStation Go features a built in USB charging port which allows you to charge your devices on the go. Additionally, each device includes bluetooth compatibility which enables the use of the DreamMapper App and an SD card for data storage which is used in order to display a Sleep Progress report on the LCD Screen.
Flex Technology and New Tubing
The DreamStation Go is all about targeting users needs and ensuring them a comfortable sleep every night. A new 12mm micro-flexing tubing provides users with more freedom and movement during their sleeps. Flex technology automatically evaluates breathing patterns and provides pressure relief at the beginning in an effort to mirror the users natural breathing patterns making every night comfortable.
Additional Optional Features
If you’re planning on traveling off the power grid or to an unfamiliar place, the DreamStation Go's overnight battery can help you stay committed to your therapy.
The DreamStation Go has the option of including a heated humidifier. Ideal for those who are planning to use a travel device for a prolonged period of time. The humidifier only adds an additional 760 grams to the unit.
The Decision
When deciding and comparing which Travel CPAP Machine is the right choice for you, determining your needs is the first step. Are you someone who moves around a lot in their sleep and requires flexibility or do you need a humidifier without the hassle of filling up a water tank. If you want to minimize the space your machine takes up in your suitcase, the AirMini would be the choice for you. If you want to be able to use your machine whilst camping in the wilderness, the DreamStation Go would be the machine you’re looking for.
Evaluate the features, determine your personal needs, make the purchase.
